On their journeys, Fred and Bruho, at first, come into contact with Jaidon, whom they take on as a protege-type. It's up to the viewer to decide as to whether or not they're wrong or right about what they say and what they do. I think the movie has a strong script and it does a good job at making you see Fred's and Bruho's perspective without trying to justify their actions. But, try as they might, the characters weren't actually that unlikable at all. Fred is a habitual liar and Bruho has some really bad anger problems. It's really difficult to make these characters likable and it's not like they even tried. I find that Fred's motivations are more about he's just an intellectual that doesn't actually want to work for anything that he wants, he'd rather just take it from someone else. I believe this is the case for Bruho, at least. They're, basically, doing this as a result of the fact that they feel, perhaps wrongly, that the apocalypse will come sooner rather than later and, therefore, them squatting is their preparation for such an event, since everyone will have to do it. Essentially, Fred and Bruho are squatters who spend their time living in unoccupied vacation houses. At the very least, this film relies on situations that are a little more believable. Parts of this remind me of Wes Anderson minus the overly quirky characters and situations. This will appeal to a certain type of crowd and that certain crowd will eat it up. I'm not saying it's unfunny or anything of the sort, but the comedy is of the sort that's more of an acquired taste than anything else. I mean, I thought it was pretty good all things considered, but it's one of those movies that's not even necessarily that funny. It wouldn't have been much different anyway, it's not like I thought this was a masterpiece or anything. Just a question of timing." Eden Sinclair: "Making you the hero of the hour. This was meant to be the 2600th review, ah well. Once the virus has eaten away the dead flesh, then we'll make our move. The longer we leave it, the better shape we'll be in once the dust settles. Michael Canaris: "We understand the need for sacrifice. Who the hell are you to talk to me about pain? What do you know? What did you ever lose?" You ever stop to think about their pain?" Marcus Kane: "I haven't slept one night in 25 years without reliving that moment. Your wife and family could still be out there. You don't know the pain." Eden Sinclair: "You chose to stay hidden. At what point did you stop caring?" Marcus Kane: "I used to be an idealist, too. And he's not someone you want to pick a fight with." Eden Sinclair: "Who, me?"Įden Sinclair: "You used to be a doctor. But if, in 48 hours, I arrive with a survivor and a cure, sure they won't give a flying fuck about the survivor, but they'll be lining up to kiss my arse for that cure." DJ: "Ladies and gentlemen! Here he is, the head chef, the big cheese, the sunshine of your lives! It's Sol!" Cellar Guard: "If you're hungry, why not try a piece of your friend?" Dialogue Eden Sinclair: "You got a cigarette?" Bill Nelson: "When are you going to buy your own? Do you know how much these things cost?" Eden Sinclair: "Why do you think I smoke yours?"īill Nelson: "Hatcher's got the swagger and the smiles, but it's Canaris who pulls the strings. Others Bill Nelson: "You carry on the way you're going, you're gonna wind up one seriously fucked-up individual." John Hatcher: "Yesterday, if I turned up on the 6:00 news with a survivor in tow, they'd have strung me up from the nearest lamp-post by the balls. "This is our city! Whoever they send here, we're gonna catch them! We're gonna cook them! And we're gonna eat them!"."Can you hear that? The hounds are hungry! It's feeding time at the fucking zoo!".But with you here to lead us through, we are going to go all the way. At night we can hear the distant cries of pain and anguish. "The fires have spread, the power supply is dwindling, and our food and water are running out fast."It now remains only a matter of time before the laws of nature seek to redress the balance.".But a virus doesn't choose a time or place. It's human nature to seek even the smallest comfort in reason or logic for events as catastrophic as these. "Like so many epidemics before, the loss of so many lives began with a single microscopic organism."There's something you don't see everyday."."Sorry to piss in your chips, but we haven't got time to play safe.". ![]() All I have is a name on an envelope and an address of a place I can never go to."
